MorbidMeter is paradoxically the oldest and at the same time most obscure app available from this site. Its intent is to put long periods of time into a shorter, more familiar perspective. The original idea was to map one’s entire lifespan onto a single year, so that the date of birth was January 1st and the last day of life was December 31st. Thus if you had a roughly average life expectancy of 80 years, when you were 40 years old you’d be 6 months into the year. You can be more precise than that by looking at hours, minutes, and seconds of each day. For example, my MorbidMeter tells me it is December 2nd, 1:23 PM plus 10 seconds of my life year.

If you don’t get it, check out my blog post that gives more detail.
MorbidMeter is available as an Apple Watch app, and as an Android Widget. It is free.
