Are We There Yet?

During the New Year’s Eve celebrations last night, I briefly thought about our New Year’s Eve bash of 1999/2000.  At the time, there was a great deal of concern expressed from many people about computers all over the world suddenly defaulting.  At the same time, many religious groups (possibly the same who feared computer mutiny) passionately awaited the end of times – certain that this was surely the time when they would all be called up to heaven.

As for me, my husband and our children; we spent the millennial New Year’s Eve traveling to the Bahamas. Happily, we were free from any fears that the airplane would mysteriously fall from the sky or that we would be “left behind” as the more righteous Christians abandoned us to a fiery crash while they were being raptured. As atheists, we were clearly in the minority. The plane was nearly empty (more stretch-out room), and our resort hotel vacation was priced well below what is usually seen. We’ll never forget the marvelous vacation time we had.

OK, so I may never know God and I never really did comprehend the meaning/value of the whole faith issue. However, I surely can recognize mass craziness, and know when I see a great travel deal! Anybody know if there are any more Biblical disasters coming up? Let me know so I can arrange my vacation schedule.

In response to a Nov. 7 referendum, Kansas lawmakers passed emergency legislation outlawing evolution, the highly controversial process responsible for the development and diversity of species and the continued survival of all life.

“From now on, the streets, forests, plains, and rivers of Kansas will be safe from the godless practice of evolution, and species will be able to procreate without deviating from God’s intended design,” said Bob Bethell, a member of the state House of Representatives. “This is about protecting the integrity of all creation.”

Next time can I go with you….I would love to spend a few days in the tropics….(lol)

I guess we can all sleep better at night knowing that Kansas is protected from evil Darwinism. Whew, that was close! Do you think the Flat-Earth Society can be successful there too?

Sure, you can come. But it’ll have to be as far from Kansas as possible.

thats ok as long as I can bring the witch of the North… she looks preety good and she does know how to party. Even if it is with a bunch of munchkins…I would like to know if there is a Flat-Earth Society why there isnt a Round-Earth Society. You know for years we read in our history books that the people in the know said the earth was flat, butif you checked with the people who were out sailing the world and traveling they could tel you that they of course knew it was round because they worked with the perspective every day. The other thing I would like to say is that I honesly believe that with the billions of planets out in the Universe. That there is life somewhere and some day we are gona be shaking their fins one day (lol)…
