Farewell, EP Coding

Today I decided to remove the EP Coding app from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The app was intended to help electrophysiologists understand the intricacies of the coding for EP procedures. However, as I have been retired from the field for over 10 years now, I’m not sure I still understand those same intricacies.

Thus, I don’t think I can keep the app up-to-date, and an out-of-date app is worse than no app at all.

Also, I am more sensitized to the legal issues of included copyrighted CPT codes in the app than I was back in my more daring days when I was still practicing medicine. Although I attempted to rationalize my limited use of these codes, and the AMA never contacted me, I do respect the right of the AMA to charge exorbitant fees for a list of numbers if they want.

I don’t think current users of the app will be affected, but there will be no further updates and the app will not be available to new users.

By decreasing the number of apps by one, I hope to have more time to improve the current apps. I’m also thinking of porting EP Diagram to Windows, which will be a big project.

Thanks to everyone who bought and downloaded the app. I hope it was useful in understanding the most complex side of the field of electrophysiology, coding of procedures.
